The full story
Students and student organisations staged demonstrations at Delhi University's Hindi Department after the administration issued an overnight notice for PhD admission interviews. The schedule required shortlisted applicants to appear for interviews starting the following morning, leaving candidates with very little time to prepare or travel from other states. Protesters, including representatives from ABVP and DUSU, objected to the limited window and the restriction on the number of candidates shortlisted despite a large number of available PhD seats. They demanded that all applicants be permitted to participate in the selection process and that adequate representation be ensured for various candidate categories. In response to the demonstrations, the university department withdrew the interview schedule until further orders and has not yet announced fresh dates.
