The full story

On November 6, 2026, students blocked entrances at several schools in the Hamburg districts of Altona and Eimsbüttel. The actions were organised by a group identifying as the Hamburger Schulstreikkomitee. Participants expressed opposition to planned education budget cuts, including reductions in teaching staff and increased class sizes. Banners at the protests also referenced broader issues such as opposition to conscription and police violence. Police were deployed to the sites, reporting approximately 70 participants at Gymnasium Allee and smaller numbers at other locations. Following the blockades, some participants held a demonstration in the Neue Mitte Altona area. While the Hamburger Schulstreikkomitee organised the blockades, the organisers of the subsequent rally in Altona remain unidentified.
