The full story

Thousands of people from Meitei and Naga communities gathered in Imphal for a large demonstration organized by the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) alongside various Naga civil society organizations. The mobilization followed an ambush in which three Meitei men were killed. Protesters marched from Tiddim Ground to voice their grievances, carrying placards and demanding the abrogation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with Kuki militant groups, the resignation of Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh, the withdrawal of Assam Rifles, and the safe return of internally displaced persons. Naga groups endorsed the rally and held simultaneous sit-in demonstrations across several district headquarters. Law enforcement authorities deployed barricades near key government offices in Imphal to restrict the march's movement.
