Following the preventive arrest of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders in Delhi, CJP leader Ajinkya Shinde announced protests starting at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. Demonstrations were organized to condemn the detention of leaders and protesters across the country and to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the special intensive revision of electoral rolls. On Sunday, police intercepted and detained activist Anjali Damania and dozens of other individuals near Shivaji Park in Mumbai. Leaders from Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena criticized the government's heavy-handed response and the deployment of police forces.
