The full story

The Tripura unit of the INDIA bloc announced plans to stage a protest rally in Agartala on October 30, 2026. Opposition leaders, including CPI(M) state secretary and Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury alongside Tripura Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha, held a press conference to outline the upcoming demonstration. The alliance comprising eight parties intends to gather at Orient Chowmuhani and march to the Chief Electoral Officer's office to submit a memorandum. The protest is organized to demand the withdrawal of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, and increased independence and transparency within the Election Commission of India. Opposition representatives claimed that millions of electors nationwide and hundreds of thousands in Tripura risk disenfranchisement through the revision process, alleging that the election body operates in favor of the ruling party.
