The full story

Authorities deployed heavy security in New Delhi to prevent a planned demonstration at Jantar Mantar called by the Cockroach Janta Party against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The demonstration was organized to contest alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Police placed multiple participants under preventive detention, including party figures and public personalities, and detained thousands of protesters at various locations across the capital to stop them from reaching the protest site. Several opposition figures were also held while trying to participate. Detained leaders were subsequently produced before an executive magistrate and released.
