The full story

Various farmers' organisations operating under the banner of Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), alongside the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) and other groups, have scheduled a march to Delhi and simultaneous nationwide protests at district, taluk, and block headquarters. The action is planned to take place against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Organisers claim that genuine voters, particularly from rural areas and the working classes, are being wrongfully deleted from voter lists. Alongside demanding the resignation and removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the scrapping of the SIR, the movement also calls for changes in how election commissioners are selected, a legal guarantee for minimum support prices, and opposition to free-trade agreements.
