The full story
Lawyers across all district courts in Delhi planned a one-day strike to abstain from judicial work following allegations of police intimidation and high-handedness at the Shahdara police station. According to the Coordination Committee of All District Courts Bar Associations of Delhi, the dispute began after advocates visited the police station to seek action regarding an assault on a fellow lawyer that resulted in a serious head injury. Although police officers initially assured the lawyers that suspects would be arrested, the accused were reportedly released without arrest. When advocates returned to raise concerns, an assistant commissioner allegedly displayed a revolver and threatened them. Consequently, the bar committee called for an emergency meeting, resolved to strike, demanded the suspension of the assistant commissioner and the station house officer, and raised concerns regarding a subsequent FIR registered against members of the bar.
