The full story

Republican and loyalist groups held opposing demonstrations on the steps outside Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow city centre on October 4, over the Parades Commission's decision to let the Orange Order parade down Garvaghy Road in Portadown, Northern Ireland, for the first time in 28 years. Cairde na hÉireann (Friends of Ireland) and other republican groups called an 'emergency solidarity demo' against the parade; loyalist groups gathered opposite in support of the decision. A line of Police Scotland officers separated the two groups. Reports said there was no apparent intimidation and police confirmed no arrests were made.
