The full story

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) launched its long march towards Islamabad on October 4, led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, who set off from Lakki Marwat; by late that night the convoy had reached Karak district. The march demands the release of PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan. In the days before, government and opposition negotiators held talks at the National Assembly Speaker's chamber, and on October 3 reported progress towards a written deal that could have called the march off, but no agreement was announced. Federal officials had warned that governor's rule or emergency measures could be imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the government said it would prevent violent gatherings in the capital.
