The full story
On November 5, 2026, members of the Turkish Dental Association (TDB) and the Turkish Pharmacists Association (TEB) held a protest in front of the Ministry of Health in Ankara. Organised to address unemployment and inadequate public sector hiring, the demonstration featured slogans such as "Dentistry and pharmacy hand in hand for the struggle." TDB President Fatih Güler and TEB President Mehmet İrfan Demirci criticised the government for failing to meet hiring expectations and for the unplanned expansion of university faculties. Protesters highlighted that despite the high number of graduates, public health services remain understaffed. They called for a five-year transparent employment plan, an increase in public sector positions, and the immediate implementation of the Family Dentistry system to improve public access to care.
