The full story
Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, cabinet ministers and Congress MLAs staged a sit-in at the office of the state's Chief Electoral Officer in Bengaluru on October 1, postponing a cabinet meeting to do so. They demanded FIRs over what they called fraudulent Form 7 applications seeking the deletion of voters during the Special Intensive Revision; the CM alleged attempts to remove about 10,000 voters in each constituency. The BJP objected: a delegation led by Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka asked the Bengaluru police commissioner to register FIRs against the CM and ministers, arguing that a High Court order makes Freedom Park the only designated protest venue. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said the CM should focus on drought and farmers and questioned whether permission had been taken.
