The full story
The Progressive Youth League (PYL) and the Progressive Organisation of Women (POW) organised a protest outside the government-run Niloufer Hospital in Hyderabad. The demonstration followed a three-day survey conducted between October 27 and 29, which highlighted significant issues regarding patient care and hospital infrastructure. According to the participating organisations, pregnant women faced severe bed shortages, forcing multiple patients to share single beds or wait for hours on chairs. Protesters also flagged poor sanitation, overflowing toilets, inadequate facilities for patient attendants, and alleged irregularities in medicine pricing and outsourced staff appointments. The demonstrators submitted a memorandum detailing twelve issues to hospital superintendent Dr. Vijay Kumar.
